What is a Unity Sand Ceremony? Similar to the tradtional Unity Candle Ceremony, the Sand Ceremony symbolizes how the bride and groom are joined together as one with their wedding. Both the bride and groom pour sand from their individual containers into one larger container that represents their new life together. For some weddings children participate by adding their sand as well.
